About

I am a Rehabilitation Council of India Licensed, Clinical Psychologist. I have completed my M.Phil. in Clinical Psychology from Post Graduate Institute of Behavioral & Medical Sciences (Raipur, India). I have an experience of 5+ years of working as a Psychotherapist. I work with individuals of 18 years and above. I provide Psychotherapy for mental health concerns such as anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance dependence, ADHD in adulthood, managing painful emotions, low self esteem and coping with loss, relationship and work stress/burnout.

I also work with individuals to help them build skills to make decisions and work through interpersonal conflicts in families or at work.In my 5 years of practice, I have provided therapy sessions to more than 1000 clients. I have worked with individuals from varied social identities. This also includes a diverse population comprising of children at Juvenile Justice Home, inpatients of Psychiatric facility as well as Indian employees and their families from companies like Accenture, Barclays, JP Morgan, HSBC, Capgemini, HPE, among others.

Approaches to therapy

I am inspired by Dr. Irvin Yalom's words, "It is the relationship that heals". What this means for me is that, the therapeutic alliance between the client and the therapist is most important in bringing transformative healing experiences within the session. So, to create an effective professional alliance, I follow a compassionate and an integrative approach to Psychotherapy - where I focus on the client's wholistic experiences.

I mostly combine cognitive behavioral therapy with a person centered and trauma informed lens. This style of therapy helps me structure the sessions. The first session is motivated to understand the clients concern, narrative and goals. The initial sessions may also involve Psychoeducation around the client's symptoms. After the initial phase of psychotherapy, I take an exploratory approach to help the client make meaning of their thoughts, emotions and behavioral patterns. I may also use techniques, resources and skills if it adds value to the client's psychotherapeutic journey. My goal as your therapist is to help you discover your authentic self and live an empowered life with effective coping strategies.

My life experiences and training have shaped me into a core humanitarian. While growing up I used to pay close attention to the norms and the culture that govern a major part of the individual's existence in society. Sometimes this can lead to internal conflicts and a psychological conditioning that stifles us from living freely.

I believe at their core, every individual longs to express themselves freely and want to be accepted for their unique self. Therefore, at every step of my therapy sessions, I am motivated to create an authentic, unbiased and compassionate space for experiencing difficult emotions and memories. I am also extremely conscious of the fact that human beings are a product of their unique personality traits, their narratives and life experiences, which is why I have an eclectic approach in my practice. I work in collaboration with my clients, with a primary focus being on their experience, needs, challenges and unique strengths.
